Updates on Sewing Up My Fabric!

Since I originally posted my description of this blog, I have somewhat erred from my intention. I have actually bought much more fabric than I had but ................. in my defense, I got the solids at 50% off and the quilt shop fabric at 75% off, so that doesn't count, right? LOL

RSC15 Pinks - Nothing left but the crumbs!

All of the scraps have been reduced to precuts.

And now there is nothing left but the crumbs!

I plan to sew them into slabs of fabric for other projects.

Scrappy Rainbow Mountain Majesties
Now I have a blue row and a pink row. I am not yet sure what order I will sew these together.
I think I will wait until the end of the year and audition my layouts.

Fabulous progress on pinks! So fun to have such a nice tidy stack of precut fabrics ready to be put to use.

That pattern is on my bucket list. Wish I'd thought of it for this year!

Now you can come to my sewing room and clean up my scraps! And its so much fun anticipating the layout as the color additions grow throughout the year.

This Scrappy Mountain is going to be a beauty - one of the best patterns out of Quiltville!

The scrappy mountain pattern has to be one of the easiest ever to make and it gives such a nice finish. Thanks to all of you for the compliments.

OhEmGee, that is some impressive organization going on there. The precuts, the Scrappy Mountains (very very nice!), and even the crumb/string pile looks inviting. You are an inspiration

I've been working on my stash this year as well. So much fun to dig it out and use it up. Our guild has a get'er done challenge to finish up those projects we already started, i.e. UFO's, PIGS, Etc. Finished two charity quilts this week with blocks already made. I love the idea of a strip mountain in various colors! Our guild is making 9 patches to use up strips this year.

I am not a crumb saver. I look forward to seeing the slabs. Do you store your scraps by color or size?

I used to just store my scraps by color. Several years ago I decided to put all of the same fabrics in a plastic baggie and I put the baggies in containers by color. They were sorted, but I didn't use the much. Now, I am taking the opportunity with RSC15 to cut them all up into precuts and make fabric slabs out of the leftovers. My plan is to actually cut the slabs into precuts as well. Mostly layer cakes.
