This is a small post of my first attempt at a fidget blanket. I have a friend whose mother has dementia and I wanted to make her a fidget blanket. I can't tell you how many YouTube videos I watched. Looks simple and straight forward I told myself but it took me a long time to finally get it done. I just didn't feel comfortable putting those gadget type things on there so I finally went with what I call a sensory blanket. She likes to watch Cupcake Wars so I put cupcakes on there. She lives in Texas so I put a few fabrics representing Texas. I found that faux lamb's wool and thought that might feel good and you can see the rest in the picture. It turns out the faux lamb's wool is her favorite part and her daughter says she holds tight to it when she is changing her sheets! The goal was to make her happy, so I think I did ok.
A little over 30 years ago, I started collecting fabric. I felt like I needed a good variety in order to make my quilts. About 10 years ago, I stopped collecting fabric. I determined that I needed to sew up my fabric before I could buy any more. I have only made a few exceptions since then, and I try to limit myself to buying only solids. You will be able to tell by my quilts that most of the fabric is now what is called "vintage."
Updates on Sewing Up My Fabric!
Since I originally posted my description of this blog, I have somewhat erred from my intention. I have actually bought much more fabric than I had but ................. in my defense, I got the solids at 50% off and the quilt shop fabric at 75% off, so that doesn't count, right? LOL
