Updates on Sewing Up My Fabric!

Since I originally posted my description of this blog, I have somewhat erred from my intention. I have actually bought much more fabric than I had but ................. in my defense, I got the solids at 50% off and the quilt shop fabric at 75% off, so that doesn't count, right? LOL

Fourth 2017 Finish Quilted and Bound

Charming Plus Quilt  67" x 81"

Quilted and Bound
I made this charming plus quilt along with Tish Nagel of Quilty Therapy.
You can find the tutorial here.
I used 5" squares.  I really like her method for creating the 9-patches.
4 hours of quilting is good

8 hours of quilting is better

12 hours of quilting is MUCH better!

Linking up with QAL RSC17 and Growing up

Using RSC17 Color Purple to make my blocks for the Growing Up QAL 2017 January block.

These blocks were fun to make.
I am using the Moda Santorini Collection for this QAL.  A lot of beautiful fabrics.

The links for the RSC17 and the Growing Up 2017 QAL are at the top of this page.

Third 2017 Finish - Quilted and Bound

Choosing the binding

Berry Cross QAL with the Inquiring Quilter

 Quilted and Bound
Backing & Quilting
My inspiration for the quilting was one of Lori Kennedy's designs in the new book 180 Doodle Quilting Designs pages 118-119
The designs fit perfectly in the blocks with a little adjustment as needed.

So far I am keeping up with my goal for this year which is to finish one quilt every week - quilted and bound!

RSC 17 Linkup

RSC16 colors with Quilt Addicts Anonymous 2016 QAL
I am really excited about finishing this quilt top.
I really liked this pattern when I saw it last January but I didn't want to buy any fabric.  I wanted to work from my stash, so every month when Stephanie posted the block, I used the RSC16 color for that month.  That made this quilt a bit of a surprise.
This thing is HUGE!  108" x 120"
Thanks to Stephanie at Quilt Addicts Anonymous and to Angela at Soscrappy for making this possible!

Second 2017 Finish - Quilted and Bound

Quilt Doodle 2016 QAL is quilted and bound.

Backing was a coordinating print fabric with borders.

I still need to add the embellishments, but I moved right before the holidays and haven't gotten completely unpacked yet.
Hopefully, I will get those embellishments on  before Christmas!
My goal is to finished one quilt a week, quilted and bound, so I consider this done as far as my goal goes!

Linking up with RSC17 - The Color Purple

Lawn Chair Quilt

When I saw Monica Solorio-Snow's Lawn Chair Quilts at the Moda Bake Shop, I knew I needed to make one with RSC17 colors!
They are simply made by sewing a solid 2-1/2" strip on both sides of a 2-1/2" strip and cut them up as you see above, mix them up per the directions to make your quilt.  I won't be sewing mine up until I have all of the colors.

I am so glad to hear that Angela will be having a linky at the end of each month to show off our finishes with past RSC quilt projects.  It has been my purpose this year to get those things finished and she is offering extra motivation!
Thanks Angela!
Here is the link to the RSC17.
Take a look at all the creativity this group has.

RSC17 The Color Purple

I have not started on my purples for this year but I am posting my purples from RSC15.  Since I did not get to finish my RSC15 projects that year, I am planning to complete them this year as the colors come up. I am hoping that my life has quieted down enough to do this now.

Please join Angela and the rest of the group here  for a year of fun and scrap busting.  This group always comes up with some interesting ways to use their scraps!

First Week's Finish for 2017

First Finish - Halloween Pumpkin Quilt

My yearly goal is to finish one quilt a week.
I almost had this one finished in time for Halloween but sometimes things just get in the way.

I thought the backing was appropriate for a Halloween Quilt!
