Updates on Sewing Up My Fabric!

Since I originally posted my description of this blog, I have somewhat erred from my intention. I have actually bought much more fabric than I had but ................. in my defense, I got the solids at 50% off and the quilt shop fabric at 75% off, so that doesn't count, right? LOL

BABY QUILT MARATHON - FINISH LINE!

I had really big plans for this marathon.  For some reason, I envisioned many baby quilts and panels would get done, but, alas, I only finished three and I'm still working on the 4th.

None of these were UFOs.  All of them started from the beginning to the end during this marathon.

All totaled, I put in 38-1/2 hours.

This was an eye opener for me.  A big thanks to Gail for hosting this marathon.  I will now look at my fabric and panels, in particular, in a different light.  Panel fabrics do take time and I think I can safely look at a panel now and tell myself that it will probably take me between 10 and 15 hours to complete.

I now plan to take a good inventory of my panels and coordinating fabrics to determine how much sewing and quilting time I have in store for the future!!!!!  I am not sure I want to add it up!

Thanks again, Gail.  I have 3 quilts ready!

BABY QUILT MARATHON - DAY 7 AND 8

DAY 7 AND 8

Day 7 - I put in one hour and 45 minutes in quilting on the first baby quilt.

Day 8

Starting quilt #4 - Peek-a-Boo by Amy Bradley Designs

I only had the panel with these blocks and no coordinating fabric so I am really having to get creative with this one.

Disappearing four patch as alternating blocks. The print has all of the colors in the quilt and even though it is a little busy, I thought that would add to the Peek-a-Boo theme.  I have no idea what this is really supposed to look like so I am winging it!

I put a total of 2-1/2 hours in the marathon today with quilting and working on this new quilt.

My total hours for this marathon is currently at 20 hours and 45 minutes!

Thanks Gail.  If you hadn't started this marathon, these quilts would still just be a dream.

BABY QUILT MARATHON - DAY 6

Baby Quilt #3 - Alien Invasion

I apologize for the picture quality.  I will try to be sure and get good pics when they are quilted.

This is my 3rd baby quilt top in this marathon. This top took only about 4 hours to make but I thought it was going to take longer because I had no pattern and only had 6 blocks and one charm pack of coordinating fabric.  Somehow, I managed to pull it off.

The suggestion for this marathon was 26 hours.  So far, I have 16 hours and 30 minutes!

BABY QUILT MARATHON - DAY 5

Baby Quilt #2 top completed

Day 5
I spent a total of 3 hours and 10 minutes to get this top completed.  This one really felt like a marathon.  All I had to do was sew the triangles with the 4-patches.  It felt like a true marathon.  Just one more triangle, just one more triangle, but one at a time I finally got them done.  Then I just needed to put the rows together.  Only 7 seams. How long could that take?  Not too long but it seemed like forever, but finally, I have another top ready to quilt.  Now I need to get that king size quilt finished so I can quilt these two tops!

Thanks for stopping by.  Please see previous posts for information on this Baby Quilt Marathon.

BABY QUILT MARATHON - DAY 4

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

Baby quilt #2 started

I have a king size quilt under my long arm right now so I couldn't quilt the first baby quilt yet but I will get to it this week.  I am looking forward to making this American Jane quilt.  I spent 2 hours today in making those 4-patches and cutting up my panel.

I have a total of 9 hours and 5 minutes in this marathon.  The total hours suggested for this marathon was 26 hours, I think, so I am not doing to bad with my hours so far but I would like to get much more done.

Baby Quilt Marathon - Day 1

Baby Quilt #1 - ready to go!

This what I had on the design wall after 1 hour.

This is what I had on the design wall after 2 hours.

This is what I had on the design wall after 3 hours and 20 minutes!

I was getting tired but I remembered that this is what a marathon is all about, pushing through when you get tired.  At least I got the blocks sewn into rows and tomorrow I will sew the rows together and hopefully get the borders on.
