Updates on Sewing Up My Fabric!

Since I originally posted my description of this blog, I have somewhat erred from my intention. I have actually bought much more fabric than I had but ................. in my defense, I got the solids at 50% off and the quilt shop fabric at 75% off, so that doesn't count, right? LOL

25th Finish of 2017 - Quilted and Bound

Layer Cake Sampler QAL - 2014
This QAL was sponsored by Material Girls Quilt in 2014.  This was a fun project making all of these blocks from HSTs using 10" squares.  I can't believe it took me so long to get it quilted.  The pictures don't do it justice.  Here is a link to the pattern and QAL.

Backing
I was surprised at how nice the backing came out.  I didn't have quite enough fabric so I put a few strips of white in between the two fabrics.

QUILT INFO

24th Finish for 2017 - Quilted and Bound

24th Finish for 2017

Grandson's Little League T-shirt Quilt
I have made t-shirt quilts before but I didn't expect this one to be so large!  I don't think he missed one season plus he was on the allstars every year!  It's hard to see the quilting but I put large circles on the t-shirts and called them "quilted curve balls!"

What to do with an extra t-shirt?

Make a pillow, of course!

I just had to add a pillowcase to make it a matching set!

What to do with an extra patch?

Put it on the back of the pillow, of course!

I put a hidden zipper on the back of the pillow.

Back

I bought this baseball fabric a few years ago.  I planned to use it on the t-shirt quilts but I don't remember what my plan was because I didn't have enough of either fabric for the backing, so I combined them.

Quilt Info

Size:  84" x 96"

Batting:  100% Polyester light weight

Quilted on my Innova sitdown longarm

NOTE:  The only fabric I purchased in 2017 was the green and red for the borders.

I learned from making this quilt that I am going to really have to pace myself when I make the rest of them.  It takes a lot of planning to tell a story with t-shirts and it took me a while to decide on the layout and this one seemed best to be laid out in columns by year.

I have 8 grandchildren and lots of t-shirts so I can see that I am going to need to live a long time in order to get all of these done.  I guess I'd better get a good exercise routine for strength and stamina!!

23rd Finish for 2017 - Quilted and Bound

9th Christmas Quilt made from PJ Scraps
This is the 9th quilt I have made from left over Christmas pajama scraps for my kids.  At least 10 years ago, I cut up all the fabric that I could get into squares and managed to make 9 tops.  I have actually quilted the last 3 this year with this being the last.  Now I need one more grandbaby to give this one to! Note: I am not aware of any coming along as of yet!
I still have other sizes of scraps from this stash.

Franz had to be in both pictures.  He really likes this one!
Quilt Info
Size:  66" x 96"
Batting:  Mountain Mist Soft, Light-Loft
Backing: Muslin

NOTE:  No fabric, batting or thread was purchased in 2017 to complete this quilt.  This backing took 6 yards and the binding was 1/2 yard.  By quilting these 3 Christmas quilts this year, I have almost used all of the muslin fabric that I bought for this purpose.

I am linking up with Jennifer at Quilting with the Inquiring Quilter for Wednesday Weight Loss. Please click on the link and see what others are doing to sew up their fabric!

22nd Finish for 2017 - Quilted and Bound

22nd Finish for 2017
I used to make Christmas pajamas for my children and grandchildren until I realized how much fabric scraps that I was amassing in the process.  So, one day I decided to cut all of the scraps into large squares and I had enough to make 9  fairly large twin size quilts.  This is #8.  I have one left to quilt and then I will have to start using the smaller scraps!  I have already made a queen size quilt from the leftover smaller scraps.
Backing

Her name quilted into the quilt!
It might be a little hard to see but I stitched her name in the squares.  I wish I had thought of that when I made the others!

Quilt Info

Size:  66" x 94"
Batting:  Fairfield Poly-fil Low-loft
Backing:  Muslin - because ALL of my kids love the feel of muslin backed quilts!

NOTE:  No fabric, batting or thread was purchased in 2017 to complete this quilt.

Yellow is the RSC17 Color for June!

Yellow Blocks for Lawn Chair Quilt
This green and yellow plaid was the closest to yellow that I could find in my stash.  I do have a few other yellow fabrics but they didn't seem to do as well as this one.
I realized that I have very little yellow fabric, so I will make a note to self to fix that problem! LOL
I will be looking for yellow fabric soon!
The pattern for the Lawn Chair Quilt can be found in the Moda Bake Shop.

Bottled Rainbows
You can't tell it in the photo but the top yellow border is much lighter than the bottom one.
I am really wanting to show off my design wall again because I am so proud of it.  At the beginning of last week, I didn't have any green on those green blocks and after just a few days of having them on my design wall, I am almost ready to square them up and sew them down. Now, I had those blank blocks sitting on my spare bed for the whole month of May with no success, but putting them on the design wall did the trick.  I am just fascinated with the increased productivity with the design wall. I guess it doesn't take much to impress me!

Just in case some of you are not familiar with the Bottled Rainbow quilt, I thought I would share the link to the instructions HERE.
