Updates on Sewing Up My Fabric!

Since I originally posted my description of this blog, I have somewhat erred from my intention. I have actually bought much more fabric than I had but ................. in my defense, I got the solids at 50% off and the quilt shop fabric at 75% off, so that doesn't count, right? LOL

Cleaning out my stash bins.

 THREE EMPTY BINS

These bins were full of leftover projects and scraps.  I have been working on sorting the contents for about a month now.  Most evening, I try to get them sorted out while watching tv with my husband.

PRECUTS

Out of these three bins, I was able to cut a tall stack of 5" squares, several folded fabrics that were more than a yard each, a stack of 2-1/2" strips, 6 stacks of 2-1/2" squares, a few fat quarters, some small squares for small projects, a stack of 10" squares, some lace, ribbons, and a zipper (I have a place for these so why didn't I just put the in there in the first place?) And in the very front is a miss mash of orphan squares, strip sets and on top is some wedges. I just couldn't cut those up!

STRIPS AND STRINGS

I had quite a few strips that were less than 2-1/2" wide and some strings.  I separated solids from prints but that is all the sorting I did at this time.  I do have a place where I keep this type of fabric.

TRY NOT TO JUDGE ME ON THIS ONE! LOL

The gallon ziploc baggie on the left has leftover fabrics with fusible on the back and the one on the right has tiny strings.  I also have a place for these.  If I don't get around to using them, I know my granddaughters will enjoy playing with them so there is no loss here.  I also am not appopsed to throwing them away at some point.

I wish I could tell you that is all the bins that I have, but sadly, I have quite a few more!  It is my goal to get them all organized sooner rather than later.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Magic of Christmas

THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS

This was a 2016 sew along.  The blocks were tiny and I really struggled about half-way through it, but I put it on my UFO list for 2020 so I was determined to finish.  I really enjoyed the quilting process.

 This is the back.

April UFO commitment
This is a 2016 QAL by Lisa Bongean called "Christmas Magic"
25 six inch blocks - what was I thinking? They have so many tiny pieces.  This month I will conquer this UFO which has been haunting me since 2016!
Close up of quilting

Tulips
This was my March UFO and  I finished it! Yaay!
I rescued these tulips from a local thrift store.  They were very primitive and no two blocks were the same size or fabrics.  I really felt I needed to give them life.  It looks kinda retro with my scrap 2-1/2" squares.  I'm pretty happy with it and it is finished.

Baby quilt from leftover scraps.  Just needed quilting.

Back shows the quilting better

I had to stop and make about 40 masks for my healthcare worker family members

Projects list is moving along.  I think I am staying focused.

March OMG and PHD in 2020

March OMG and PHD in 2020
I am linking up with Patty at Elm street Quilts for the March OMG (One Monthly Goal)
and
Quilting Gail for the March PHD in 2020

I think I am doing pretty good. I almost have a few more ready to bind so starting the first week of March, not too bad.
I have plans for a couple more UFOs this month but I need to get some more done on the ones I have started first!

Sunbonnet Sue was my February PHD in 2020
Success!!!

ABC Quilt
I have been trying to complete one additional UFO each month.  This was an ABC panel and I managed to get it made and pin basted but not quite to a finish.

Green Geometric Quilt
I used the pattern from Becky at Quilted Twins and the geometric fabric bundle from Quilted Twins.
I probably could have finished the ABC quilt if I hadn't made this one.

Showing the backing.

A La Mode pattern by Debby Brown Quilts
This was another quilt using the geometric bundle from Quilted Twins.  It is quilted. Just needs binding.

PHD in 2020
So far, I think I am on a roll.  I still plan to finish one UFO every month plus finish anything I start this year.

Stash Busting
Ok, I did acquire a little fabric in February, but I am busy trying to sew it up!
