Updates on Sewing Up My Fabric!

Since I originally posted my description of this blog, I have somewhat erred from my intention. I have actually bought much more fabric than I had but ................. in my defense, I got the solids at 50% off and the quilt shop fabric at 75% off, so that doesn't count, right? LOL

Fairy Tale Blog Hop

 Fairy Tales Blog Hop

Hosted by CalicoJoan at MooseStash Quilting

I am pretty excited to be in this blog hop.  There have already been some great interpretations of "Fairy Tales" in the blogs today. Each one so different. Normally, I would not consider myself talented enough to join one of these adventures but I remembered that I had some fabric that I got in Germany about 4 years ago and I really wanted to make something out of it.

Since I was in the land of castles, I just had to buy this fabric. I had no idea what I was going to do with it. And then came along this blog hop!

I tried to make a castle in EQ but I am not that good with it but I did remember that Alice at Blossom Heart Quilts had made a castle pattern.  OK, I hate paperpiecing but I did buy the pattern and manage to made the castle. Fortunately, it was large enough that I only needed to make one.

54" x 59"

Back turned out pretty nice.

Laural of Slice of Pi Quilts posted about making quilts which were featured in children's books and I thought maybe I could find one about fairy tales.  Well...........you can find anything on Amazon, right? Yes I did. I found the perfect children's book.  It tells all about knights and what they wore and about dragons, etc. just perfect! Now I need a little 4 year old boy to read to for nap time! LOL

Thank you for visiting my blog and taking the time to read it.

Below is a list of all of the blogs in this blog hop and the dates they will be sharing their fairy tales. I hope you find the time to stop by and see each one of them.

Wonderful. Love the fabric and how you used it in the quilt. Of course, the castle is perfect. Paper piecing may not be your thing but you did a great job. The quilt will be loved...

I'm not sure why you would think you might not be talented enough to join "this adventure" because your quilt is awesome! I love that castle and the combo with the fabric make this quilt totally amazing. Thank you for sharing and I hope you'll join in for more blog hops!

Oh Pam, I'm not sure why you thought you were not talented enough...if there is one thing we have all learned through these hops, is that we all underestimate ourselves some days. You Ms Pam, have nailed it and turned a beautiful piece of fabric into a fairy tales wonderland! I love how you found a book to go with it as well. I know you will find the perfect 4 yr old to read to, while his napping under this wonderful quilt...and everyone will live happily ever after! ;-)

What a terrific castle. So perfect for this hop. Getting that book was such a terrific idea. I'm pretty sure that 4 year old will love both the book and snuggling up in his castle.

Great use of fabric and color and now the story book to go with it.
Wow that verifying took almost a dozen pages!

Your castle quilt looks fantastic.

You found the perfect castle for the center of the quilt, and the color choices are right on. The entire quilt is wonderful! Thanks for sharing! (P.S. A book about those times that I especially love is "Paper Bag Princess." No knights in shining armor, but one really strong girl.:) Perhaps you've heard of it...)

I'm a day late popping in to the blogs on this hop, so I wanted to say you made a great castle!

I'm late, I'm late for
A very important date.
No time to say hello, good-bye,
I'm late, I'm late, I'm late
I'm late and when I wave,
I lose the time I save.
My fuzzy ears and whiskers
Took me too much time to shave.
I run and then I hop, hop, hop,
I wish that I could fly.
There's danger if I dare to
Stop and here's a reason why:
I'm over-due, I'm in a rabbit stew.
Can't even say good-bye,
Hello, I'm late, I'm late, I'm late.

The paper pieced castle was such a good choice to put with the fabric you got in Germany. It all turned out perfect.

Excellent castle quilt! I also like the idea of giving a book that goes with the quilt, to encourage reading from a young age. Thanks for sharing!

Castles are so perfect for fairy tales. Your project is so cute. I think my boys had that book when they were little. Looks familiar.

This is so clever! I have also picked up fabric overseas on my travels that just needed to come home with me, and only much later did I find a use for it (I still have some from Japan, waiting for me). I love your castle--you did a great job on the quilt and in finding a book to go with it. What a fun blog hop!
