Updates on Sewing Up My Fabric!

Since I originally posted my description of this blog, I have somewhat erred from my intention. I have actually bought much more fabric than I had but ................. in my defense, I got the solids at 50% off and the quilt shop fabric at 75% off, so that doesn't count, right? LOL

Jolly Bar 3 Table Runner Sew a Long Sponsored by the Fat Quarter Shop

So very far outside my comfort zone!

This was a bit of an experiment.

I pulled 42 - 10" squares from what I call "Pam's Vintage Pre-cuts".  I randomly chose the fabrics to make a layer cake. Then I cut them in half to make two Jolly Bars. The second Jolly Bar was going to be used with Pat Sloan's Friendship Bracelet QAL using the Jolly Bar 3 book. The reason for the orange background is that I let my husband choose it!

(I take my scraps and cut them into precuts starting with fat quarters, 10", then 5", 2-1/2" squares and 2-1/2" strips. These are all sorted by color family.)

This is a hanging view. I am still working with my lighting.

I feel like I really hit the jackpot with the backing fabric. Matched perfectly and gives me an entirely different look on the table.

Fabric from 2009! Just had to show the selvage. Why did I buy it? Probably because it was on sale. LOL

I figured I should check my scrap bindings to see if I had anything that would go with this group of random fabrics. I couldn't believe my eyes! Perfect. It was even pieced and ironed and rolled up! I had about 18" left after binding the table runner! How many times does that happen?

Just to be sure, I turned the corner to see how it would go with the backing! Another win!

Thanks for your patience. This is my final picture.
I asked my husband to pick up a bundle of cheap flowers when he was at Walmart.
How perfect is this?

Thank you for stopping by.

Born to be Wild

Born to be Wild!!!!!!!

When I saw Carol's invitation for this blog hop, at first I didn't think there was any way that I could do this, and then I remembered that I had a half-yard pack of animal print (bottom of pic from Quilted Twins) and I knew I had some other jungle type fabric.  When I saw this print fabric, I opened it up to find that it was blocks. Oh yeah! I think I can do this! So, I contacted Carol to sign me up!

The panel fabric is over 30 years old.

The blocks were about 4"x6". So I decided to cut them up and lay them out on the design wall. I thought it might add a little interest to them if I made the strips around them off-centered. I was getting pretty excited about this. I had been wondering what I would ever do with that fabric so knowing that it will have a purpose made me happy.

BORN TO BE WILD!!!!!
50"x71"

I had quite a bit of the print fabric left and I knew I didn't want to make anything else from it, so it obviously became part of the backing.

I decided to try to give it some dimension by quilting wavy lines.

Even though this is pretty wild for me, I enjoyed the challenge and want to thank Carol for hosting this blog hop.

Below is a list of all of the bloggers and the dates which they will reveal their challenge. There have already been some great ones.

Catching up!!!!!!!

 Well...............trying to catch up!

I haven't posted since October 2020 because I didn't like how my pictures looked with the sunlight peeking through the fence so I got discouraged and didn't post any pictures. I attempted to make better pictures yesterday but I didn't realize that when I was taking the pictures that the sunlight was coming through so strong, so the back is showing through in all the pictures!

I said all that to say that I am up for Tuesday, May 18th for the "Born to be Wild" Blog Hop and I need some good pics. Nothing like pressure to get this right!

Fortunately, my pics for the Blog Hop came out pretty good so I bought myself a little time to figure out my lighting situation.

Below is the listing for the Hop. Hope you have time to visit each one.
