Updates on Sewing Up My Fabric!

Since I originally posted my description of this blog, I have somewhat erred from my intention. I have actually bought much more fabric than I had but ................. in my defense, I got the solids at 50% off and the quilt shop fabric at 75% off, so that doesn't count, right? LOL

2018 Mid-Year Review

What I am working on now.

Linking up with Yvonne at QuiltingJetgirl for a mid year look at my 2018 goals.

I tried to make my goals real and attainable.  Some days it is difficult, but I think I am pretty much on target.  See my comments in red below.

2018 Planning

Using my new planner, I have chosen 3 main goals for the year.

1. Empty garage of all moving boxes - I have been moved in for a year now and still have a 3 car garage full of boxes!  Oh my!  I am hoping to get one box emptied each day until it is done. I also plan to take before and after pics.
While I haven't emptied a box a day, I have averaged that by emptying more on other days.  I am just about half way through.  I did take pictures but I had a computer glitch and lost them.

2. Sort all fabric - That seems to be a never-ending project but I have decided to start each week with a reasonable goal for sorting fabric for the week with before and after pics.  I forgot to  mention that I still have fabric in containers in the garage! Oh my!
I am making progress with my stash but I don't know if I will be where I would like to be at the end of this year.

3.  Keep house clean - Now, my house isn't dirty, but I like to keep a handle on things and I figure if I make a plan, then I can work it around my quilting and I reference Cynthia Brunz's blog title "Quilting is more fun than Housework!"  I can assure you that I'd rather be quilting!
I am slowly working into a routine to keep the house clean with minimal effort so I can concentrate on my quilts and fabric stash!

Well, I have all of this written in my Quilters' Planner so lets's see how I manage everything.
It did help to write things in my Quilters' Planner.  I hope to do better with it next year.

I wish everyone their best in keeping up with their goals.

These are great goals Pamela and I see you are making good progress on them. I think the organizational goals are as important as the sewing goals. Clears the mind and leads to more quilting.

It's great to hear that you are making progress on your goals. Having a planner and list like this really helps me keep myself accountable. That and the satisfaction I get from seeing improvement from my hard work. I hope you have a great rest of your year, and thanks for linking up!

Workable, incremental, and reasonable goals are best. I do best not to say, "Lose 20 pounds in 2 months." Be the turtle, Pamela. Slow and steady. Head down. Your pace. It's very hard not to be tempted by new fabric that has changed so much in the years you've been collecting it. I would think someone with your cultivated taste deserves to indulge once in a while. The point to me isn't to use it up necessarily, but to continue to enjoy it. So happy you are content with your goal setting!

Row quilts are such fun and yours is so soft and touchable. And I like your plan to clear the boxes, sort the fabric, and keep things straight. Having a plan helps; you're very smart to keep on track.
