I will be joining Quilting Gail at https://quiltinggail.wordpress.com/ for this baby quilt marathon. I figured since my blog is about sewing up my fabric, I might just get a lot of it sewn up with baby quilts. I have quite a few juvenile panels and if I run out of them, I can start on holiday panels. I have already started organizing them to hopefully get the most out of my time. The commitment is to spend at least 26 hours on these quilts during that time. That's slightly less than 2 hours a day. I think I can hang on for that! LOL |
A little over 30 years ago, I started collecting fabric. I felt like I needed a good variety in order to make my quilts. About 10 years ago, I stopped collecting fabric. I determined that I needed to sew up my fabric before I could buy any more. I have only made a few exceptions since then, and I try to limit myself to buying only solids. You will be able to tell by my quilts that most of the fabric is now what is called "vintage."
Updates on Sewing Up My Fabric!
Since I originally posted my description of this blog, I have somewhat erred from my intention. I have actually bought much more fabric than I had but ................. in my defense, I got the solids at 50% off and the quilt shop fabric at 75% off, so that doesn't count, right? LOL

Working with the Blues!
Working through the blues!
Blues from a drawer |
More blues from under bed storage container! I spent the better part of this month taking all of my blue stash (most of which is 20-30+ years old) and cutting it up into pre-cuts. I have been doing this every month for the RSC color. I figure that I will be more likely to use them if they are pre-cuts.

RSC Finish! Bottled Rainbows and Scrappy Rainbow Hearts
Scrappy Rainbow Hearts I came across this pattern in January of 2015 when I first found Angela's RSC Group. I was so excited to find patterns that I could for each color of the month! Why did it take so long? Not sure. It was really easy to do! The link to the website for this free pattern can be found here.http://funthreads.blogspot.com/p/free-quilt-patterns.html |
The quilting was fun. |
Next up! |
Bottled Rainbow Quilt I believe I started this sometime in late 2011. I was so excited to start it but I don't think I had my fabric organized well enough to finish at the time. I did, however, make all of my framed blocks in the beginning, but just couldn't get around to doing the most fun part of putting those odd shapes on there. Here is a link to the original SAL https://www.stitchedincolor.com/blog//2011/02/bottled-rainbows-ticker-tape-quilt.html |
Another close-up of the quilting. |
Finally, the back. I probably should have put more thought into selecting my backing fabrics but it is growing on me. With hindsight, I do wish I would have appliqued the fabric pieces with straight line stitching instead of zigzag, but I don't think any of my children or grandchildren will care. LOL I have really been encourage by Angela's RSC group. Both Angela and everyone who links up to her group have such good ideas for using scraps. This is the link to the RSC19 Group.http://superscrappy.blogspot.com/2019/06/scraphappy-saturday.html |
